BIOGRAPHY
Escape into a magical world of theatrical cirque folk-rock whimsy. Velvet Jeanie is a singer-songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer residing in the residing in the mystical mountains of Tasmania.
Although born and raised in the land of Oz, her heart belongs to Eastern Europe and beyond. Her music is a melodious whirlwind of otherworldly tales written and performed on her piano accordion (called Edith) and her acoustic piano. An intricate blend of world music influences, vamping vaudeville keys, velvety vocals and thumping rock beats set the stage for a whimsical sonic adventure.
Her self-titled debut album was released in December 2023 and her single, "Mr Nick" sparked the attention of international press. The single received regular airplay on European radio stations, particularly on Switzerland's The Feels Radio Show. Her second album single "The Mad Painter Song" caught the attention of Voodoo Radio in the UK, inspiring a featured article in London's Right Chord Music Blog.
2025 has seen the dawn of a new era in her music, with the release of her 4th debut album single, "In My Sky", released on the 6th November, 2025. An ethereal folk-rock mantra that coincides with her recent move from Adelaide to the luscious island of Tasmania, Australia. "In My Sky" gently rocks like a bittersweet lullaby to console listeners through the inevitable season of change. The song declares an optimistic spell of hope through life's trials, delivered through a lyrical mantra that honours the persistence of the sun shining in our sky as we journey toward the life of our dreams.
The music video's debut on Boxing Day, 26th December 2025, will feature snippets of Jeanie performing upon the shimmering Karrawirra Pari, meaning "Red Gum Forest River" in native Kaurna language, also known to locals as the Torrens river. This special place was regarded as the embodiment of the Rainbow Serpent, believed to be the most powerful of all Creator Ancestors in native Aboriginal culture the Dreaming, which honours the relationship between people, the land, and the spiritual realm. The whimsical imagery of "In My Sky" follows an enchanting collage of golden visuals reflecting autumn, the season of transition.
In her cauldron of musical influences are the delights of Lene Lovich, Bjork, Tim Minchin, Queen, Kate Bush, Loreena McKennit, Caravan Palace and Yann Tiersen.
Velvet Jeanie stands out not only with her eclectic twist of World and Rock influences but also with her otherworldly, velvety vocals. The theatrical songstress is carving her name into the realm of rock music with her colourful instrumentation and illustrious story telling.
